"ONE of the funnier comments I have seen about Austria’s reversion to fascistic form was from Konstantin Kisin of Triggernometry fame.
Asked what he thought of the Vienna government’s decision to make vaccination compulsory, he said he respected ‘their right to re-enact their history and traditions’.
Quite. Not long after, despite generally thinking themselves superior to their southerly neighbours, the Germans were followed suit.
Everyone in Deutschland is going to be jabbed.
It is not immediately clear how they will vaccinate those ingrates who cling to the outdated belief of bodily autonomy.
The German health minister perhaps provided a hint, alarmingly saying that by the end of winter all citizens would be ‘vaccinated, cured, or dead’. Mein Gott!
You have to admire the Krauts, they don’t do anything by halves.
Lockdowns for the unvaccinated, too, have become all the rage across Central Europe.
The Czechs and Slovaks are at it, borrowing the idea from their Teutonic neighbours.
For those who for whichever reason do not want to have the vaccine, it looks as if the era of persecution is here.
It doesn’t matter if you are a 5G-chip-worrier, someone with natural immunity after infection, or someone who just wants longer-term data: the effect is the same.
You. Must. Obey.
Not that it is limited to hot-headed continental types.
The saccharine-smiled totalitarian of Auckland, Jacinda Ardern, enjoys nothing more than reminding the citizenry of New Zealand that they have a choice: be vaccinated or have no life whatsoever.
Australia, too, has its totalitarian health despots at the levers of power.
Without the jab, said Dan Andrews, Premier of Victoria, Australians would be effectively barred from society.
That he was turning on its head the Anglo-Saxon conception of liberty – where we are automatically presumed free – by treading down this path of healthocratic dictatorship seemed not to faze him a jot.
Power easily goes to a man’s head.
Already, quarantine camps are being instituted.
By now it is easy to see how societies fall into the trap of dictatorship.
People, believing themselves to be doing the right thing, go down the path of totalitarianism with alarming ease.
It was ever thus.
People whom we today deem to have been evil-doers thought they were acting justly at the time.
They all had their justification, their reasons.
Each episode of this mania has its own background from which it springs. Today’s is our modern obsession with health and mortality, all of which stems from the death of religion and the endlessly shallow cult of the modern.
Riots are breaking out against the mandates.
Governments may at last soon begin to feel the long-overdue push-back to their despotic actions.
Whether it will provoke them into doubling-down or backing off remains to be seen.
Having invested so much political, economic and moral capital in lockdown and vaccines over the last two years, they are unlikely to admit to any mistake.
Rights must now be claimed back by citizens: they cannot expect them to be returned willingly.
One question remains.
It may benefit those in power to ponder it a moment.
What if, having forcibly vaccinated their populations, governments find that Covid still spreads?
Something similar, say, to what is happening in Gibraltar at this very moment?
By that point, having violated the fundamental rights of their citizenry – and having repeatedly insulted their intelligence and morality – there will be few sticks left to beat them with.
A Rubicon will have been crossed.
It may only be then that the attempts by those in power to pit society against itself, divided into vaccinated and unvaccinated camps, will be recognised.
In time it will become clear to all that the emperor has no clothes.
But things are likely to get worse before they get better.
The scapegoating has only just begun."
Our nation became a circus with Covid in 2020. The news media became the public relations firm of a government that decides what you don't need to know, and how to slant what you do need to know. Blog motto: "Is that true, or did you read it in the New York Times?" ... “Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedies.” ... "If forced COVID vaccination doesn’t work, then what?"
