NOTE:
A new record: My note is longer than the article.
This is my antidote to the Covid fear porn in the mass media:
I take many food supplements every day, and have been doing so for for over 60 years, starting with calcium supplements when I was allergic to milk as a child.
Last year i doubled my Vitamin D intake. This year I added quercetin. My goal is a stronger immune system that better resists respiratory diseases. I have never had the flu, and can not remember my last common cold -- at least five years ago. I can't prove supplements have anything to do with that. In fact, i have a theory that it is impossible to prove anything. But i can't prove it.
My (I'm age 68) current daily supplements include:
Vitamin C - 1060mg
Vitamin D - 4500 IU
Zinc - 36mg
Quercetin - 250mg
I try to keep stress levels low in two ways:
- Retired at age 51, at the end of 2004
- I do not fear Covid. Of about twelve people I know (age 55 to 75) who got infected with Covid in 2020, not one needed hospitalization -- the worst cases: Two people sick with "the flu" for about three weeks, while the best case was a seventy-something man who only lost his sense of smell.
I an not vexed, and will remain untaxed, because:
-- Short term side effects are the highest of any vaccine in history, by far,
-- Long term adverse side effects are unknown,
-- Effectiveness against Covid declines rapidly, and
-- Effectiveness versus Omicron appears to be near zero ... but Omicron is a coronavirus common cold, not a new Covid variant, so it is nothing to fear.
Omicron symptoms are the same as a cornonavirus common cold, and the virus structure has about 50 mutations versus Delta Covid, with about 30 of those affecting the spike protein. Real Covid variants have had one or two spike protein mutations, and similar symptoms. Covid symptoms are serious if you have a weak immune system, common among the elderly, especially those in nursing homes. They are nothing like Omicron symptoms.
Delta Covid, a real Covid variant, is still with us. We can only hope Omicron will "crowd it out". Virus mutations are how every prior pandemic in the past 100 years has ended. There is no reason to assume this time will be different.
Do not be swayed by the smarmy "fear porn":
-- People who die for any reason after a positive inaccurate PCR test are called "Covid Deaths".
-- People hospitalized for any reason who later test positive with an inaccurate PCR test are called "Covid Hospitalizations".
-- People who test positive with an inaccurate PCR test, even with no respiratory symptoms, are called "Covid Cases".
Hospitals make more money when they report patients as "Covid Patients", even if they arrived there after a car accident. There is a lot of Covid fear porn misinformation.
Keep your stress level low, and try to keep your immune system healthy.
A daily, loud "Let's Go Brandon" cheer can be useful for that.
Social distancing is the only other strategy to prevent infections -- a strategy known for over 100 years -- simple science. With Omicron, however, if you are located anywhere in the same room as an infected person, then you are at risk. Six feet social distancing is meaningless with Omicron.
Don't waste time, and money, on tests -- they are unreliable, and you could get infected ten minutes after a negative test. If you feel sick, assume you are sick, and stay away from healthy people. Use common sense.
Masks do almost nothing, and N95 masks are not much better.
If you do get infected with Delta Covid, your chance of survival is about 99.8% if you are under age 65. That means even a perfect vaccine with no side effects could only improve your odds by 0.2 percentage points -- a tiny absolute risk reduction. You may be in more danger while driving a car to the drugstore to buy a testing kit.

"There are certain doctors who are blowing the whistle on the ways our government has handled Covid-19.
It seems that the only advice coming out of DC or otherwise is to get vaccinated.
Any treatments or preventative measures are either ignored or outright discouraged.
Everyone remembers the false notion that Ivermectin is just a “horse dewormer” despite the fact that it has been used by humans since long before Covid-19 ever existed.
One doctor who is spreading the truth is Dr. Peter McCullough.
He has been censored and attacked for doing so.
He has taken considerable losses for his adherence to the truth, but he persists.
I was blessed to have him on my show.
Among many other important topics, he discussed the six things everyone should have on hand as Omicron spreads.
... all of these have demonstrated efficacy in fighting or preventing the disease, particularly Omicron.
... here is what Dr. McCullough had to say about the six things to keep in your medical toolbox:
“If there was six things in the over-the-counter toolbox, I would put in there that Povidone Iodine.
That’s about $5 if you buy it online.
And then after that it would be Zinc, 50 mg a day.
Vitamin D, 5,000 IUs a day, increased to 20,000 a day during active treatment.
Vitamin C, 3,000 mg a day, active treatment.
And then Quercetin, 500 mg a day for prevention, 500 mg per day for active treatment.
And then one last one, which is over-the-counter antacid/antihistamine which actually reduces viral replication and that’s Famotidine or Pepcid, but at a high dose, 80 mg a day active treatment.
“So that over-the-counter list, if there was a shopping list if people were going to, in a sense, ‘brace themselves’ for Omicron, which it looks like it’s going to hit everybody.”
He then went on to describe the prescription drugs that many are taking to treat Covid-19 such as Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin, among others.
This intriguing interview (at the link above) is a must-listen for anyone who wants to know how things are going with Omicron and what to expect in the future."
